There is both opportunity and need for educated, well-trained advocates in all areas of breast cancer research. If you have considered taking your research advocacy to the next level, consider applying for National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Project LEAD Institute. All BCCRF board members are Project LEAD graduates and have gone on to work along-side researchers at every level — at major hospitals, universities, and comprehensive cancer centers. They’ve peer-reviewed grants for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, a program largely brought into being by confident, educated advocates. LEAD is an intense six days, but necessary (and for some research opportunities, it’s often required) for all serious breast cancer advocates.
The LEAD Institute provides an intensive, but accessible (regardless of prior knowledge of science) training in the science of breast cancer, brought to life by renowned research faculty from across the country. Most importantly, your learning is supported at every turn with small study groups and workshops with researchers.
Because of the pandemic, this year’s Project LEAD has not yet been scheduled but please check back for updates on 2021 dates, as well as how to register.
Project LEAD tuition historically has been free to NBCC members and financial assistance for lodging and travel has been available.
