Kimlin Tam Ashing, Ph.D., is a professor and directs the Center of Community Alliance for Research & Education at City of Hope. She is a notable leader in examining cancer disparities and quality of life. Her life’s work is to increase the voice and representation of underrepresented groups in health sciences and research by mentoring students and trainees, and increasing the capacity of community organizations to engage in research, and address their cancer and chronic conditions.

Leslie Bernstein, Ph.D.
Professor and Director, Division of Biomarkers of Early Detection and Prevention, Department of Population Sciences

Among the most accomplished researchers working in cancer epidemiology today, Leslie Bernstein, Ph.D., was instrumental in identifying physical activity as a means to reduce the risk of breast cancer. She received the highly prestigious Medal of Honor in Cancer Control from the American Cancer Society for her work to greatly advance public health.
