There is something incredibly empowering about participating in the world’s largest international conference focused entirely on breast cancer! When I was first introduced to breast cancer advocacy in 2015, I had no scientific training or background and was merely curious to find out as much as I could about the disease that had upended my life 2 years before. After completing the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s Project LEAD, a scientific training program specifically designed for advocates, I felt ready to attend my first medical conference and that happened to be the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s symposium will be held virtually from December 8-11, 2020, and for the first time, registration for patient advocates is free! Even if you are not a science buff, please consider signing up, if only to witness the impressive scope of the latest research developments from thousands of academic and private physicians, researchers and patient advocates, united in the fight against breast cancer.
